Weezer - Hash Pipe

So, I've gotten a little behind on the blogging. Several records have come in over the past week, so you'll probably see quite a few blog entries over the next couple of days detailing my purchases.

Today's entry is Weezer's "Hash Pipe" single. Now I know what you're thinking, "Dan, don't you already own the Hash Pipe single? Or perhaps two of them?" Well you would be correct. I do own two of them already. Now I own a third (and I'm in the process of looking for a fourth and last copy).

Anywho, so the copy I received today is an error version of the single which on the back lists "Starlight" as the song on the b-side, when in actuality it's "Teenage Victory Song." It's also a limited edition of 2000. Mine is individually numbered as number 1413. This was available only in the UK on green vinyl. I also have the corrected version, which properly lists "Teenage Victory Song" on the back (pictured below).

There's also two US versions. One has a picture sleeve and a small hole in the center of the record, which I own as well (pictured below). Then the last and most elusive of the "Hash Pipe" singles is the US Jukebox version which comes in a paper sleeve and has the old school large center hole. With any luck I'll acquire one of those in the near future. I'll keep you posted.

Stay tuned this week for some Jimmy Eat World and perhaps some more Weezer. Perhaps.

And here is a picture of all three of them together. On the left is the US edition, and on the right are the correct and error editions of the UK single.

Alkaline Trio - Good Mourning

Ah, another record came in the mail today. This time I received the Cobraside 2 LP reissue of Alkaline Trio's Good Mourning on clear blue vinyl. Only 300 copies exist on this color and are exclusive to the Aural Exploits webstore. I've been looking to pick this up for awhile, and it was reissued on a few different colors that were exclusive to a few different places, but I never could decide on one. Then Aural Exploits put theirs on sale for $14.99 instead of the $24.99 that everyone else charges. That sold me. It's a really nice looking clear blue vinyl too. Very pretty. Easy on the eyes.

Blink 182 - Blink 182

Blink 182's self titled record came in the mail today. I admittedly haven't listened to this one all too much, but it was such a sexy looking pressing that I just had to order it. This is my first piece of vinyl that I own that is half and half like this. It's pretty cool. It also should be noted that the vinyl matches absolutely perfectly with the colors on the jacket. It's a real sexy release and it's even nicer in person than it appears in these pictures. Also, you can't see it, but on the D-Side there is an etching of the Blink 182 smiley face logo. I tried to take a picture of it, but it didn't photograph well. You'll just have to trust me on that one.

It should be a good week for vinyl, as I'm expecting Alkaline Trio and Weezer records to come in the mail this week. Stay tuned, kiddos.

Weezer - Hurley

Ah, yes. It came. In case you don't know, Weezer is my favorite band. So naturally, I was quite excited for this bad boy to show up in the mail. I mean I've had the leak for like a week now, but there's just something about having the physical copy in your hands that feels so nice. This is the Epitaph Store exclusive clear green vinyl edition, which was limited to only 1,000 copies. All the rest are on your standard, run-of-the-mill, black vinyl. I'll probably end up picking up the black one eventually as well as I am a bit of a Weezer completist. Over the course of this blog, I'll probably be posting bits and pieces from my collection for you to check out.

Conan O'Brien - And They Call Me Mad?

Hello and welcome to my new blog, entiled "They Still Make Records?" This blog will chronicle my record collecting hobby. I'm sure you're not really that interested, but hey I'm going to blog about it anyway.

So anyway, today's first entry is for the latest record which I have purchased, Conan O'Brien's spoken word single "And They Call Me Mad?" The A-Side is Conan's take on Frankenstein and the B-Side is Jack White of the White Stripes interviewing Conan. It's pretty funny stuff, but I would say the only reason to purchase this is if you happen to be a huge Conan fan and a vinyl collector such as myself. Sweet picture of Conan on the front of this thing too. It also comes in a limited edition 3 color vinyl, but I was not lucky enough to be one of the 50 random people to receive that.
